Draper History

In 1937, Richard J Draper founded the company in Glastonbury, Somerset, England.

The factory was originally a formal chapel and its surrounding cottages. The immediate area was rich with raw materials of sheepskin and leather which together with a skilled workforce from generations working with these materials made the development of a footwear business seem natural.

Suede and Sheepskin slippers were being manufactured by 1946.

Draper of Glastonbury premises extended in 1962, is situated in the shadow of the famous Glastonbury Tor.

The company is still very much a traditional family concern, giving employment to about 50 people, producing an average of 2000 pairs a week, sixty percent of which is exported to the highest quality accounts throughout the world.

The "Draper of Glastonbury" range consists of luxury sheepskin lined boots and slippers that are still hand made in the Glastonbury factory using the finest materials and skills available and are sold throughout the world.
