Dr Martens SS17 Collection

Following our last update, we are very excited to share with you the new styles for Spring/Summer 2017.

This season’s trend uses the 1990’s global phenomenon of grunge as its core inspiration. Festival culture also experienced a new popularity, which was also the moment that Dr Marten’s sandals first experienced mass popularity. The eventual evolution of grunge’s low key, the individuality and eclectic nature of grunge fashion is also reflected in the use of tie-dye prints.

Take a look at a few of my favourite style’s :

Grunge was a genre that incorporated lashings of heavy rock and punk attire that were sometimes mixed with elements of hippy fashion. Once such characteristic was the use of tie dye in grunge fashion, which was essentially driven by the fact it was an affordable and individual option. This is shown in the Clarissa.

The Clarissa has evolved both in comfort and style for the Vegan consumer. The addition of a cut-away at the back of the heel has created more flexibility and comfort. The buckle on the adjustable strap is branded for quiet detail. This summery pop of colour contrasts boldly with the crisp white outsole and white welt stitch, which we feel, makes this sandal a winner in all respects.

This ever so popular boot has been given a boost this season. The classic triangular or square-shaped bandana cloth has a rich and varied history across a number of cultures and religions dating back several centuries. This all over digitally printed pattern pays tribute on the Pascal boot and 1461 shoe.

For Spring, a grunge inspired mash up of three individual floral prints has been used on the 1461 3 eye shoe. The print has been inspired by vintage 1990’s floral fabrics found in British vintage stores. Printed crisply on a smooth, pigmented leather, creating a striking and energetic patchwork clash.
